“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” -Plato
There is a story about a young woman on a train getting very frustrated at two misbehaving children causing chaos. The father was seated and ignoring the children which was even more infuriating. Eventually the young woman addressed the father, and asked him to control his children. The father looked up, seemingly noticing his infants for the first time and said: I’m sorry, we just came from the hospital where their mother died and I don’t know what to do.
We have no idea what anyone is going through on any particular day, all we can do is be kind and compassionate especially when faced with someone who is rude or mean.
Today, I challenge you to show kindness to a difficult person. We must remember that pain for each of us in individual and relative. Even if the reason someone is acting inappropriate today is not sufficient in your mind, to them, that thing may be causing them great pain. let us all try to be more understanding, compassionate and kind to one another.
